2023 is the year for some of the biggest Bollywood movie releases we have seen in a while. It will not only see stars returning with a bang but also some fresh on-screen pairings with quirky love stories. From Shah Rukh Khan’s dynamic ‘Pathaan’ to Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Jee Le Zaraa’ celebrating female friendships, here are the top films to watch out for in 2023.

King Khan is back after a hiatus of four years, and that in itself is a celebration. As a lead, he was last seen in ‘Zero’ in 2018, and lately he was only spotted doing cameos in movies such as ‘Brahmastra’, ‘Laal Singh Chadha’, and ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’. Pathaan features a stellar star cast that includes Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in pivotal roles. The movie is set to hit theatres on January 25, 2023.

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that 2023 is going to be Shah Rukh Khan’s year. He has not one, but three releases slated this year, ‘Jawan’ being the second. Directed by Tamil filmmaker Atlee Kumar, the action thriller also stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and Sanya Malhotra. It’s set to release in five languages in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, on June 2, 2023.

SRK's Christmas release starring Taapsee Pannu marks his first collaboration with Rajkumar Hirani. However, there isn’t much info about the genre and plot of the movie yet, but it’s set to end the year with a bang with its release on December 22, 2023.

The multi-starer movie packed with the best of talent will hit the screens on January 13, 2023. The black action comedy features Shardul Bhardwaj, Tabu, Arjun Kapoor, Konkona Sensharma, Kumud Mishra, Radhika Madan, and Naseeruddin Shah in pivotal roles.

His Diwali release directed by Maneesh Sharma and written by Aditya Chopra, Neelesh Misra and Shridhar Raghavan will surely be a treat to fans as he will share screen with Katrina Kaif after three years. The spy-thriller will also mark Emraan Hashmi’s entry to the ‘Tiger’ franchise where he will play the antagonist.

The multi-starrer, directed by Farhad Samji, features Pooja Hegde, Venkatesh Daggubati, Shehnaaz Gill, Palak Tiwari, Siddharth Nigam, boxer Vijender Singh, Jassie Gill and Raghav Juyal. It’s slated to release on Eid.

Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar is all set to take us on a nostalgic ride with her live-action musical—an Indian adaptation of the iconic comics—with her next movie, ‘The Archies’. It features Shah Rukh Khan's daughter Suhana Khan, Amitabh Bachchan's grandson Agastya Nanda, and Boney Kapoor's daughter Khushi Kapoor in lead roles and also marks their Bollywood debut. The film will be released on Netflix in 2023.

One of the most awaited on-screen pairings is Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. The actors are collaborating with director Luv Ranjan for the first time, for a quirky romantic comedy that will hit theatres on March 8, 2023. The film also stars Dimple Kapadia and Boney Kapoor.

After a smashing performance in ‘Gully Boy’, Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh are back with a romantic drama directed by Karan Johar. The film also stars Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, and Dharmendra in key roles and will hit the screens on April 28, 2023.

Written and directed by Om Raut, the Indian mythological film is based on the epic Ramayana that stars Saif Ali Khan, Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Sunny Singh. The film will release in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam language on June 16, 2023.

Zoya Akhtar is back back with another road trip and tale of friendship with the ultimate powerhouse - Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Alia Bhatt, and Katrina Kaif. Talking about the film, Priyanka took to Instagram and shared, “It only took 3 years to align all our schedules but we stuck together and got it done! This one is to sisterhood… to friendship and to breaking the mould!!.” It’s touted to release in 2023, but the date has not been decided yet.

Meghna Gulzar’s upcoming movie is based on the life of Sam Manekshaw, the chief of army staff and how instrumental he was in India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war. The film stars Vicky Kaushal, Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh in major roles and will hit the theatres on December 1, 2023.
